Baby sunscreen is extremely important in the summer. As moms, we want to use the best products on our babies. We want products to be toxin and chemical-free.
We all know that the sun can cause cancer. But did you know that sunscreen can too?
Many well-known sunscreens claim to be toxin and chemical-free but in reality, they aren’t. Many also contain carcinogens.
My son could literally live outside if we let him. So he wears sunscreen almost daily. I want to make sure the sunscreen I’m putting on him is safe.
I’ve found 6 amazing baby sunscreen brands that are truly chemical-free.

Before I came across EWG, I was using a certain brand of sunscreen on my son that had claimed to be chemical free. It turns out, it was rated a 7 on EWG which really made me want to research other brands.

The 6 Best Baby/Toddler Sunscreens
Baby Bum is my personal favorite. I use this on my son almost daily. I have the lotion and the spray and I highly recommend both. It’s fragrance free so perfect for sensitive skin. Baby Bum is 100% mineral based. It’s vegan, cruelty & gluten free. It is also paraben, phthalate, sulfate, dye and PABA free. EWG gives Baby Bum a rating of 2.
2. Thinkbaby SPF 50+ Baby Sunscreen
Thinkbaby sunscreen is free from biologically harmful chemicals. It’s BPA free and reef safe. It is gluten, dairy, PABA, paraben, and BPA free. Thinkbaby sunscreen is safe for daily use and protects skin immediately after application. EWG gives Thinkbaby a rating of 2.
3. Badger SPF 40 Baby Sunscreen Cream
Badger sunscreen is made with mineral Zinc Oxide. There are no chemical active ingredients. Badger is hypoallergenic and gluten free so it can be used even on the most sensitive skin types. It’s GMO free and safe for the reefs. Badger also nourishes the skin by using sunflower oil, beeswax leaves and jojoba. EWG gives Badger a rating of 1!
Pipette is made from 100% mineral non-nano zinc oxide. It’s dermatologist tested and pediatrician approved. Pipette is cruelty and vegan free and hypoallergenic. It’s also made from 100% sugarcane-derived squalane which makes the sunscreen blend easily. This sunscreen is lightweight and non greasy. It’s also reef-friendly! EWG gives Pipette a rating of 2.
5. Babo Botanicals Baby Skin Mineral Sunscreen Lotion
Babo Botanicals is a zinc based, mineral formula that is made with 100% non-nano zinc. This sunscreen is fragrance, gluten, soy, dairy, sulfate and paraben free. Babo Botanicals is made with shea butter, coconut and calendula to help with sensitive skin. It’s also cruelty free and reef friendly. EWG gives Babo Botanicals a rating of 2.
6. Two Peas Organics – All Natural Organic Sunscreen Lotion
Two Peas Organics is certified organic and chemical free. It’s mineral and zinc based. It contains 20% zinc oxide to prevent sunburn. It is also reef-friendly. Two Peas Organics is PABA, parabens, -BPA, fragrance-free. EWG gives Two Peas Organics a rating of 1!
